PHONICS/READING

As the third most widely spoken language in the world, English is widely spoken and taught in over 118 countries and is commonly used around the world as a trade language or diplomatic language. It is the language of science, aviation, computers, diplomacy and tourism. Last but not least, it is the language of international communication, the media and the internet.

Although English is not the most spoken language in the world, it is the official language in 53 countries and is spoken as a first language by around 400 million people worldwide. But that’s not all, it is also the most common second language in the world.

Loon Education is now offering English classes for children from a very young age in order to spark interest and with time, acquire the skills and knowledge of literacy in the English language. Our classes for children ages 2-5 years old have a duration of 30 minutes each. Starting at age 6, the students will start to take classes with a duration of 60 minutes each. Likewise, we offer adult classes for all levels.

Increase students’ foundational English skills and facilitate confident communication in the future.  

Begin to create students' academic foundation in English including reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.  

Get students familiar with elementary phonics rules which will help with high-frequency words and decoding unfamiliar words.

The students will start with a review of all the letters in the English alphabet and the letter sounds. Through this they will not only learn phonics and the correct pronunciation of the English letters, but they will also begin their journey of reading in English as well.  

Throughout levels 1-3 in the phonics course, the students will perfect their phonics knowledge, reading and pronunciation through methods such as listening and repeating words and sentences, blending letter sounds together to make words, practicing high frequency words (HFW), and spelling. 

The lessons will be interactive and fun incorporating games, videos, and songs into the lessons in order to keep the children engaged and focused, assuring they are really enjoying their learning process. Our goal is to make sure the students are learning at an accelerated rate, while still having fun!   

Our Phonics classes are broken down into 3 levels with 50 lessons in each level. There are 5 units in each level, each with 10 classes.  

Level 1: Letters and letter sounds, blending 2-3 letter words, vowel sounds. 

Level 2: Magic E/long vowel sounds, vowel blends, digraphs, l and r blends, reading complete sentences and small passages. 

Level 3: Silent letters, r controlled vowel sounds, advanced digraphs, soft letter sounds. reading advanced sentences and paragraphs.
