French is one of two official languages in Canada and is spoken by close to 275 million people worldwide. French is the official language in Belgium, Benin, Burkina, Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, Central, African, Republic, Chad, Comoros, Côte, d'Ivoire, Democratic, Republic, of, the, Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial, Guinea, France, Guinea, Haiti, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mali, Monaco, Niger, Republic, of, the, Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Switzerland, Togo, and Vanuatu.
Our French classes start with learning basic vocabulary to help students get a feel for some of the unique sounds of the French language. Students learn simple conversational sentences that are repeated at each lesson, students are encouraged to listen and to respond to phrases. Students then learn vocabulary and complicated verb conjugation in a various different ways; repetition, matching, sorting, writing, games and speaking. This varied approach at language allows the student to get a full breath of the language and allows them to learn in different ways.
During class students actively engage in skills such as listening, speaking, interacting, reading and writing. Classes evolve with the students ability and each class builds upon the subsequent skills learned from the previous class. All class material is carefully selected to cater to the students ability, interest and skill level. No two classes are ever the same! During class student are able to progress at their own pace, we can take time to focus on difficult topics or letter sounds and progress quickly through items that the student excels at. Lessons typically include games and also themed actives such as “Halloween vocabulary” to make lessons more fun.
Students are able to take classes either individually to cater to their unique learning style or in small groups to learn with their peers of similar language abilities.
